Continuous use of minulet (birth control pill)? My girlfriend takes minulet continually. She does not have breaks between cycles as to allow for her periods. There are 21 pills (I think) in a pack and when the pack is finished she moves directly onto the new pack. She does this for about 6 months and then stops for a few days for her period before continuing again. What is this doing to her body? How harmfull is it? Are there long term side effects? Could this make her sterile? Thanks from a concerned boyfriend. I asked her to stop and have a monthly break but she said that it is her body and she will do what she wants with it. I want to have kids with her and she does not want any. We are both 28 so there is plenty of time for this. additional details for william n I stated in the question that the pack size is 21, so the pill is designed to be taken for 21 days and then stopped as to allow the period. There are no placebo pills in the pack. Basically, she continually takes a hormone pill everyday for about 6 months without a break.

Kerry-Ann J replied: "My doctor and my nurse tell me everytime never to skip periods when on the pill, however the instructions state you can miss one every now and then without side effects and some pills stop periods altogether. Personally, I do not like skipping them because I am too worried about the effect not having a period is on my body. Talk to your girlfriend and maybe ask to go to her doctor with her to talk about it. If you are worried and you want children then personally I think you have a right to know if these might make her sterile."

william n replied: "there are 2 types of pills 1st is taken for 21 days then stopped to allow periods to take place 2nd continous every day without stopping =NO PERIODS I WONDER which type she use i can help u in answering ur questions"

Changing birth control pills? I used to be on a birth control pill called Cerazette (POP pill) but ive been changed to tri minulet, a tri-phasic pill. It said I would be covered for contraception when changing if i took the first tri-minulet pill on the first day on bleeding. However, I did not have bleeds with the cerazette so i took the tri minulet as soon as i finished the lest cerazette. Would I be covered for the next week? (PS I would talk to my doctor but im away for xmas and forgot the number)

dont say a word!! replied: "pills cover u contraceptive wise if taken on the 1st bleeding day of ur period but wen ur changing pack ur not suposed 2 have ne gap wat so ever u just continue with the nu pack the day after the old 1 finishes so it gets into ur system quicker and gives u the desiered results (contraception & ligher/ regular periods) but u do have 2 use extra contraceptive methods (condom/ femidom) 4 the next 7 days of taking the nu pill 2 b extra sure u dont get pg whilst it goes into ur sytem. hope it goes well lol i have 2 do it myself"

Which birth control pill has more estrogen? Minulet - 75 micrograms gestodene & 30 micrograms ethinylestradiol or Marvelon - 150 micrograms desogestrel & 30 micrograms ethinylestradiol i was just wondering which pill is stronger as i've swtiched from Minulet to Marvelon and i haven't been using extra protection. I've just heard you need to if the pill you changed to was weaker? thanks

What day do you start yasmin birth control? I've been living in korea for a few months now, and when I came here my body started to go bonkers on me. I broke out with horrible cystic acne and my hormones were bouncing around like a tennis ball. I'm pretty sure this was my body reacting to the new stress I was under. I decided to put myself on birth control. (You don't need a prescription here, and it only costs about 5 dollars) I bought minulet, and honestly it has been a miracle worker for the last month. Though, I decided I should probably know what I'm putting into my body, and searched the internet to find reviews of minulet. Well, I found out that it has been discontinued in the U.K. and is linked to blood clots and phantom pregnancies. NO THANKS! I read overall pretty good reviews on yasmin (some horror stories) and went to the pharmacy and bought a 3 month supply. but...all of the information is in korean...and I don't know what day I should start. I'm assuming I should start on a sunday? please help. :)

Lea replied: "You can start today. You can start the first day of your period, and if you do that, you are protected immediately. You can start the Sunday after your period. If you start today or on the Sunday after your period, you'll have to wait 7 days to be fully protected. All birth control pills have issues with clots because of the estrogen."

What is the best birth control pill with the less side-effects? I have PCOS. I don't get my period at all unless I take birth control pills. I've been taking these pills for about 6 years. I've tried Marvelon, Gynofen, Gynera, Minulet, and Yasmin. All of them had serious side-effects that wouldn't allow me to work or live as a normal human being. Any other kind of treatment/therapy I've tried didn't work. If I don't take BCP, I have almost a year without a period. So is there anything at all that can help me?

sokokl replied: "One that I took that was regularly used to treat PCOS before Yasmin came along was one calle Desogen. I don't know if it still exists now but this could be an option for you. Some women with PCOS also have tried dietary changes and taken a medication called Glucophage and found that it helped their period. However, these women that took this also had a thing called Insulin Resistance.
